ABOUT THE
BEGINNING
Since it first began accepting students in 1992, the School of Communication
Arts has grown and established a world standard for training in advanced
computer imaging and now Information Technology. The School has achieved
its reputation through its commitment to excellence in teaching and
the recognition that programs, software, equipment and facilities must
be constantly oriented to an ever changing industry. Located in North
Raleigh, our facility is within a half hour's drive of Research Triangle
Park, often called the Silicon Valley of the Southeast. The School is
also close to three nationally-acclaimed research institutions - UNC
Chapel Hill, Duke University, and NC State. The Triangle region has
consistently ranked at or near the top of national rankings for "The
Best Place to Live in America" and "The Best City for Business".
ABOUT OUR
COMMITMENT
The School of Communication Arts remains committed to providing students
with contemporary resources and instruction. Small class sizes are at
the core of our success. By receiving close personal supervision and
a maximum of hands-on studio and lab time, our students have been able
to consistently produce high quality demo reels and portfolios. Our
strategic awareness of the digital imaging industry and our Advisory
Board of industry leaders have enabled us to meet the demands of the
fast changing employment market.
ABOUT
THE STUDENT BODY
The School welcomes prospective students who demonstrate an aptitude
for visual creativity as well as an interest in Information Technology.
Previous experience or software proficiency may be required for certain
advanced courses. Applicants for admission are drawn to the School from
across the country and around the world. Potential students range from
those with creative talent but little technological training ... to
those with strong technical experience who may benefit from adding creative
skills. Others demonstrate an intense interest and background in computers
and may be experienced professionals who require further training in
order to advance their careers.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMS
The School conducts intensive 60 week degree and diploma programs in
four study groups
each representing opportunities for a higher
study effort. This means challenging real-world project goals, a demanding
faculty plus an opportunity to make creative and technical statements
expressed as take along portfolios. These study groups include a range
of growth opportunities seldom seen in higher education.
